Oak Park, IL - ArtRageous! Oak Park, presented by Shop Here Oak Park, is thrilled to announce that Oak Park artist, MARGOT MCMAHON, has won the ArtRageous! Oak Park 2010 image contest with her piece entitled, Wonder. Margot answered the call to submit a piece of art that interpreted this year’s theme of Permutation & Combinations – or unusual pairings.

Margot's submission exemplifies Permutations & Combinations through her imaginative pairing of stainless steel and fused glass. Margot started this sculpture during ArtRageous! Oak Park 2009. She demonstrated welding at Loro Auto Works where she fabricated Wonder's frame. Later, she participated in a glass fusing class at Prodigy Glassworks in the Oak Park Arts District and incorporated the techniques she learned there into the sculpture. Wonder will be featured on all of A!OP's 2010 promotional materials.

Interpretations of human, plant and animal forms define the sculptures of Margot McMahon. She earned an MFA from Yale University and has taught sculpture and drawing at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and DePaul University. Her work has been collected by Yale University, the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and the National Portrait Gallery. She is currently working on a bronze sculpture for The Peace Park in Lincoln Park, Chicago. To learn more about Margot, please visit her website at www.margotmcmahon.com.
